Fear

To be honest I’m not quite sure how to do this particular post, with out it turning to some sort of tangent or rant.

In the last couple weeks, I have been noticing how much people Fear that which is uncontrollable. From Nature itself to the crazy that person that up and harms others. From the chance that a stranger is following you, to the possibility of children vanishing.

This is a fear that society itself helps foster with the news they watch. One may live in Minnesota, and hear about the crazy down south that killed 2 total strangers on the highways. The news can help us know what is going on in the World, but it is also effecting our perception of ourselves and others.

All one can do is live, plan, and have the precautions life has for us. From teaching your child the secret word, to teaching oneself not to worry. Often this is easier said than done. Especially with everything that is bad in the World come from the news on the Radio, Television, Cell Phone, internet, magazines, newspapers, in such readily accessible material.

Be mindful, and prepared. It may scare the hell out of you when your child comes home and says that some one tried to nab them, but they didn’t know the secret word, or that they didn’t know them, so they didn’t get in.

It may anger or sadden you, when you hear of a person who killed some one on the side of the road, and then waited a couple days before turning the car in, or herself.

But life happens, we can’t control it, no matter how hard we may try, what we may do to try and control the spinning of that life wheel, it comes. There may be stones, there may be curve balls that swing and knock you off the path, and down a rocky ravine, but onto a different path.

Take a moment and be. Turn off the TV, the computer, the phone, have dinner with the family, talk about the day at school, talk about the day at work, talk about the girl down the street that just got a new bike, or the neighbor that just bought a new house. Meet a person who is new, show them around. Take a moment to be positive and calm, see how it may or may not change how you look on life.

Take a walk, down the scary path, you may just be surprised on what you find on that path. Maybe a beautiful tree, or some one that is on that path with you…one never knows what is coming, but fearing it, may cause you to not even try.
